Make a Custom Purse with Your Kids in an Authentic Parisian Leather Working Shop!

A Proud Designer

One of my favorite things is finding new, English language activities in Paris that are family friendly – nothing makes me happier than discovering that unique activity that will make your stay in Paris even more memorable for you and your kids.

That’s why I am SO excited to share this new discovery with you! Last week, I had the opportunity to take a private leather working class and make a custom purse at the adorable Atelier Brune leather-working workshop in the 14th arrondissement of Paris. It was such a fun class, and I am happy to say I left with a truly high-quality purse that I really love!

Over the course of the class, I was delighted to learn that Vania, teacher and leather-worker extraordinaire, not only speaks English, but also offers a couple of classes just for kids! The ‘pochette’ class (‘pochette’ is French for a small pouch or handbag) is great for kids 4-10, and the ‘sac / bourse’ purse class is great for teens. During the classes, participants will get to choose all the materials, from the leather to the colored ribbon they will use to stitch the sides together. Kids will then get to personalize their creation with colorful leather decorations, and cute rivets in all different designs and colors, all under the kind and patient guidance of Vania.

This is such a great Paris activity on so many levels. Leather working is truly a high art form in France, and spending time in a real leather workshop with a local artisan was such a privilege! Also, how cool is it to head home with a custom souvenir to remember your trip to Paris? Lastly, I love the idea of giving an activity as a gift rather than a physical present. Nothing is more precious than the gift of time together, right?

What a great Paris souvenir!
